The following steps are covered in this instruction:
- Inserting rods into connector
- Installing inner baffle
- Installing face diffuser
Before assembling your OctoDome softbox, make sure all components are present.
You will need:
- OctoDome softbox
- Starlite Octoconnector (or OctoConnector to fit your strobe light)
- Eight rods
- Rear cowling
- Inner baffle
- Face diffuser
Important: If using a strobe light, make sure your OctoConnector is the correct one for your strobe light.
Note: In most cases, the softbox connector is designed to connect with your light head in the same manner as your light head's accessories. |

Place softbox face down on a flat, clean surface. |

Position OctoConnector at the center of the softbox. The connector front should face down toward the softbox and the connector back should face up.
NOTE: Shown here is the Starlite OctoConnector designed for our Starlite QL continuous light head. Connectors are available to fit all major manufacturers' light heads. After constructing your soft box, your light head will attach to the connector in the same manner as your light head's reflector and accessories. |

Notice that each corner of the connector has a rod receptacle hole. Follow the order shown in the preceding image when connecting rods to the connector. |

Insert the first rod. |

Insert the second rod into the hole diagonally opposite the first hole. |

Insert the third rod through eighth rods following the order in the diagrammed image above.
With all eight rods securely positioned in the connector, the initial construction of the soft box is complete. |

The rear cowling can be added by fastening the Velcro® tabs sewn on the cowling and the softbox. Line up the tabs on one end of the cowling with the softbox tabs. |

Press the cowling in place on the rear of the softbox. |

The softbox is built and ready to attach to your light head. |

Your light head can now be attached to the soft box assembly. Your light head attaches to the connector in the same manner as your light head's reflector and accessories.
Once your light head is secure, place the light and soft box assembly on your lightstand securely. |

The inner baffle has Velcro® tabs at each corner. These tabs connect to the Velcro® loops on each inner seam of the OctoDome nxt. |

Connect each corner of the inner baffle to each Velcro® loop inside the OctoDome. |

Installing The Face Diffuser |

The face diffuser is rimmed with Velcro® material that attaches to its counterpart that lines the front of the OctoDome. Find a corner of the diffuser and line up with the a corner of the OctoDome front. Starting at one corner, press the face diffuser in place. Work your way around the rim of the softbox until the diffuser is in place. |

Installing Grids
The Grids (available separately) for the OctoDome nxt are installed by attaching the VelcroŽ lining on the perimeter of the grids to the 3" Velcro® counterpart sewn on the rim of the OctoDome. |

Press one corner on the grids to a corner of the OctoDome softbox. |

Press the grids in place along one side of the softbox. |

Continue around the perimeter of the softbox until the grids are completely secured. |

Disassembling Your Softbox
To prevent damage to the light head or bulb element, we recommend that the softbox be broken down only after removing the light head and softbox from the LiteStand. Then remove the light head from the softbox connector. |

Turn off power and disconnect power cord from source. |
|
- Remove grids, if applicable
- Remove face diffuser
- Remove inner baffle
- Remove rear cowling
- Loosen lock knob that is holding light head to LiteStand
- Carefully lift light head and softbox assembly from LiteStand and place on flat, clean surface; softbox face down
- Remove light head from softbox connector. Put away light head safely.
- Disconnect rods from connector
- Put away all items
